Online courses are wildly popular in virtually every industry, yet law is lagging behind.
Learn about innovative ways to offer legal services and workshop your ideas with the group.
"As we enter another downturn, with an increasingly dynamic regulatory and macroeconomic environment, some firms will emerge stronger thanks to these stressors—while others will fail to adapt. As the pandemic and previous recessions have shown, antifragility can be seen at both the individual law firm level and at an industry level. These stressors have better equipped lawyers and their firms to collectively transform how they meet the rapidly evolving needs of the legal consumer."

Since 2019 I have tried to learn everything I could about online courses. I tested most of the software on the market. I attended conferences. I spoke to any lawyer I could find who had an "alternative" offering. I spoke to the Law Society and my insurance company. In 2020 I launched my first online course for family caregivers (available at www.kinkeeper.ca). Since then, I've added a few more courses. In November 2022 my online course platform won a Precedent Innovation Award! And I wrote a book chapter about online courses in a book published by the American Bar Association in 2023.
My blog won a Clawbie in 2014.
My website (www.familyhealthlaw.ca) was named as the 2021 best website by Lawyerist!
In 2015 I was named a Precedent Setter by Precedent Magazine. In 2022 my online course platform won a Precedent Innovation Award.
Figure out what kind of course you can launch and how to do so as quickly and painlessly as possible.
Here are just a few reasons we think online courses are worth offering at your law firm!
For many people, hiring a lawyer is out of reach. Find a way to offer legal services to people who cannot afford your rates.
It's exhausting having all of your revenue tied to the billable hour. Work hard once and let courses bring in revenue while you sleep!
Courses let potential clients see you as an expert. And gives them autonomy to choose which offering is right for them.
Use courses to educate potential clients. Then use your meeting to focus on higher value discussions.
